More about Rued Langgaard Festival
The festival celebrates the music of Rued Langgaard and related composers with magnificent performances and exciting cultural events. Central to the festival are performances of music drama or major orchestral works, mainly from the Symbolist era around 1900.
But chamber music, choir concerts and organ recitals also play an important role.
Through visual staging developed in interaction with the architecture of Ribe Cathedral, experiments are conducted to communicate music and its conceptual content in a contemporary way.
Through lectures, artist meetings, musical happenings in public spaces, films, poetry readings, etc. music is put into a new perspective.
See you in Ribe in September?
Rued Langgaard Festival is based in Ribe, and the artistic activities unfold in and around Ribe Cathedral, where Rued Langgaard was cathedral organist in the years 1940-52. With its manageable size, Ribe is an ideal place to create a real festival atmosphere for both visitors and residents.
Built from the beginning around Ribe Cathedral, Ribe is the oldest city in the Nordic region with a well-preserved city center that brings the past to life in a unique way.
With its focus on existential issues and new artistic expressions, the festival also points to the future.
